Office Assistant (Spanish Speaking)
12 month salary: $50,141
Provisional Appointment
Candidates will have to pass the Suffolk County Civil Service exam when it becomes available.
1. May work as a receptionist and answer incoming calls.
2. Must have the ability to read and converse fluently in Spanish.
3. Must have the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
4. Must be able to provide translating or interpreting services to Spanish-speaking persons.
5. Must know how to operate a variety of simple office equipment including computers.
6. Must have the ability to establish effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and the
general public and physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
7. Must be able to assist with daily office operations (general correspondence, filing, sorting, etc.)
This position is a part of a Bargaining Unit and comes with a full benefit package, which includes health, dental, vision and retirement benefits. In addition, employees in this unit are excused from work at any time during the school year that the teaching staff is off, except during summer months. Currently the paid time off includes 12 sick days and 3 personal days. During the summer months, Unit members work a shortened 5-hour day. After one full year of employment, unit members are also entitled to 10 vacation days.
