Pierson Middle School takes virtual trip to Iceland’s glaciers
Photo caption: In William Raney and Caleb Atkinson Barnes’ sixth and seventh grade Pierson
Middle School science classes, students experienced a new way of learning via virtual reality.
Partnering with Pierson librarian Jamie Mott, they had a robust lesson that explored global
warming. Using virtual reality headsets, which were generously lent by BOCES, the students
journeyed through Iceland’s melting glaciers and experience volcanic eruptions up close, all
from their seats in the library.
