Pierson Investment Club excels in statewide, regional competitions
The Pierson High School Investment Club has achieved impressive results in the Spring 2025
session of The Stock Market Game, earning top honors in multiple rankings. The online game
simulates the global capital markets and engages grades 4-12 in the worlds of economics,
investing and personal finance. The club’s Advisor Account secured first place out of 61 teams
in the High School Region and placed 20th out of 4,537 teams across New York State.
Among the student teams, one group finished 19th and another placed 68th out of 707 teams
in the Long Island High School Division. These student-led teams, made up of three to five
members, competed by managing simulated investment portfolios throughout the session. In
the Coordinator Wide Rankings, which included over 1,100 teams, Pierson also stood out. The
Advisor team placed sixth, while a student team earned 24th place—both landing in the top
100.
In addition to The Stock Market Game, Pierson students took part in the 2024–2025 Wharton
Global High School Investment Competition during the fall. This competition challenged
students to build a portfolio that aligned with a fictional client's investment goals.
“While none of our teams were invited to present as part of the [Wharton] competition's
regional finals, students developed a deeper understanding of portfolio construction and the
mechanics of the investment management industry,” said Pierson High School and Middle
School mathematics teacher, Chase Mallia.
The strong results in The Stock Market Game reflect both the dedication of the students and
the growing strength of the school’s financial literacy and investment education efforts.
