On Saturday, May 3, members of Sag Harbor’s Pierson High School Environmental Club took action to protect the planet by cleaning up Long Beach. Spending their Saturday together, the students helped prevent trash from washing into the ocean — a crucial effort in preserving marine ecosystems. Beach cleanups such as this effort play a vital role in protecting wildlife, reducing pollution and raising public awareness about the growing issue of marine debris.
