2025 Pierson Homecoming Recap
By Marji Hansen, 9th Grade
This year’s homecoming at Pierson Middle/High School was off to a great start with the homecoming parade. Homecoming prince and princess Gabby Hugo and Sonny Perello, freshmen, lead the parade in the back of a convertible. Following them were Ben Ezeir, Grayson Kanpik (sophomore), Martin Milazzo, Lola Eldridge (junior), and Homecoming King and Queen Jeffery Gregor and Abby Perello.
This year’s theme for homecoming was kids’ shows. The freshman class of 2029 was Smurfs, the sophomore class of 2028 was Liv and Maddie, the junior class of 2027 was Power Rangers, and the senior class of 2026 was Phineas and Ferb. The freshman class won the parade this year with their creative costumes. They dressed as Smurfs, wearing blue shirts, white beanies, and blue sunglasses. Their advisor was Mrs. Ward, who was dressed as Smurfette and wore a blond wig.
After school ended, three sports games were played: varsity girls' tennis against ESM, varsity field hockey against Smithtown West, and varsity boys' soccer against Babylon. The day before, on Thursday, the 25th, the varsity girls' volleyball and junior varsity girls' volleyball teams played games as well.
The carnival, at 6 pm at the high school, was entertaining for many after watching the lip sync performances from each high school grade. “It was really fun! I had a great time with my friends,” said Kai Hansen, a student who was there. Each grade chose a few songs to dance to. Some grades danced with props and had participants perform solos, duos, and group dances on a makeshift stage set up on the outside basketball court. Seniors won, juniors took second, freshmen came in third, and sophomores finished fourth. After the lip syncs, you could attempt to dunk a teacher in the dunk tank, eat Cluckmans, Sen, pupusas, sweet treats from the ice cream truck, popcorn, cookies, and hang out with your friends in the back field.
Overall, this year’s homecoming was a blast for Pierson High School. With a parade, sports games, and the homecoming carnival, there wasn’t a shortage of things to do. Everyone had a great time this year; next year might not be able to top this one.
