Pierson Multicultural Night a Vibrant Success

Pierson High School’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Club hosted a lively and well-attended Multicultural Night on Friday, April 24 in the high school gymnasium, celebrating the rich cultural diversity of the Sag Harbor community.
Students and parents from Pierson Middle High School were invited to participate by hosting tables that represented their cultural backgrounds or by attending as guests to sample a wide array of foods from around the world. The event also welcomed families from Sag Harbor Elementary School, contributing to an energetic and inclusive atmosphere that spanned generations.
Upon arrival, guests were greeted by a large world map display, where attendees were encouraged to place a pin marking their country of heritage, an interactive feature that became a powerful visual representation of the community’s global roots.
Tables throughout the gym showcased a variety of traditions, cuisines, and stories, offering attendees a unique opportunity to engage with and learn from one another. From homemade dishes to cultural artifacts and personal narratives, each table contributed to a shared experience of connection and appreciation.
Lily Caplin, President of Pierson’s DEI Club, expressed her enthusiasm about the event’s success. “It’s so meaningful to see so many members of our community come together to celebrate what makes each of us unique,” she said.
The evening highlighted the club’s ongoing commitment to fostering inclusivity, understanding and community engagement within the school and beyond.
